Getting to The Light Park San Antonio

The park is at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium, home ballpark of the San Antonio Missions, on US-90 on the city's West Side. Get directions before you go, since the entrance line for the show may differ from ballgame parking.

The stadium sits right on US-90 near Callaghan Road, about 8 miles west of downtown and just minutes from JBSA-Lackland. Its lots are reached from Callaghan Road and the US-90 access road. Once you're close, follow The Light Park signs to the entrance line.

  • From downtown: Head west on US-90 toward Callaghan Road.
  • From the north or northwest side: Take Loop 410 or Loop 1604 to US-90, then head toward Callaghan Road.

Picking the best night for San Antonio Christmas lights in 2026

Monday through Thursday nights are the easiest. Waits are often under five minutes, and tickets cost less than on weekends. There are no time slots, so a dated ticket is good any time during open hours that night.

A few more things to know when you pick a date:

  • Arrive early on weekends. Getting in line before 6:30 p.m. keeps your wait shortest.
  • Holiday hours run later. The park stays open until 11 p.m. on November 26–28 and every night from December 18 to 26.
  • Buy online. Prices vary by night, and gate tickets cost more than online tickets. See San Antonio tickets for this week's prices and season pass options.
  • Check the calendar. The Hours & Dates page has the full schedule.

Weeknights are the sweet spot. Get tickets for a Monday through Thursday night for shorter lines and a lower price.

One ticket, one car: planning for the whole family

You pay once for your vehicle, not for each person in it. A carload of six costs the same as a carload of two, so grandparents, cousins, and a teenager's friend can all come along.

Which vehicles fit. Your ticket covers any vehicle under 10 feet tall and under 26 feet long. That includes cars, SUVs, minivans, full-size vans, and double-cab pickups. Buses, limousines, trailers, and semi-trucks can't fit through the route.

If your group needs more than one car. Each vehicle needs its own ticket, and every car drives the full route. There's no parking area on site, and you can't combine cars once you arrive. If everyone can fit in one vehicle, consolidate before you leave home. If not, meet somewhere nearby first so your cars can enter one after another.

Bringing a big group? Group rates are available for parties of more than 25 vehicles.

Fill the car, pay once. Get your San Antonio tickets.

What to expect on the route

  1. Join the line. Weeknights move fastest.
  2. Show your ticket in the tent. Have it ready on your phone.
  3. Stock up. Snacks, drinks, light-up wands, and magic glasses are for sale before the show starts.
  4. Headlights off, radio on. After the tent, turn off your headlights and tune to the radio station posted on site. Every section of lights is synced to that station.
  5. Enjoy the show. Cruise the mile-long route at about 3 mph. You control the volume, so turn it up for a sing-along or down for sleeping babies.
  6. Head home safely. There's a re-buckling area at the exit. Remember to turn your headlights back on.

What to bring

You stay in your car the whole time, so pack like it's a short road trip.

  • A working car radio for the music
  • Snacks and drinks, or buy them at the tent
  • Blankets for kids who might doze off
  • A charged phone for a few photos. Selfies with the lights behind you usually turn out better than shots of the lights themselves.
  • Your dog, if you like. Pets just need to stay inside the vehicle.

Packed and ready? Pick your night and buy tickets.

Accessibility, restrooms, and weather

Mobility. Everyone watches from their own vehicle, so there are no walking paths or transfers. Grandparents, wheelchair users, and anyone who can't walk far see exactly the same show.

Sensory needs. You control the volume, windows, and temperature, so it's easy to give a child a break. The show uses flashing lights, which may affect guests with photosensitive epilepsy. Review the ADA Statement or contact the team with questions.

Restrooms. The route has no stops, and there are only a few portable toilets near the entrance for emergencies. Make a restroom stop before you get in line.

Weather. Light rain and cool nights don't stop the show, and you stay dry in your car. Severe weather can close the park for safety, so check live updates before you leave home.

Make a night of it: things to do in San Antonio at Christmas

The lights take under an hour on most weeknights, so there's plenty of evening left. Plan your next stop before you get in line, and the fun keeps going after you exit.

Dinner and more on the West Side

The US-90 corridor and the West Side have plenty of quick, family-friendly stops, including San Antonio favorites like Bill Miller Bar-B-Q, Taco Cabana, and Whataburger. Eat before you get in line, since the route has no stops. Or save dinner for late-night tacos on the way home.

Want to make it a full holiday night out? The River Walk's holiday lights downtown are about 15 minutes east on US-90.

Start a family tradition

Families who come back every year often build small rituals around the night. Think matching pajamas for the drive, a special snack saved for light-show night, or hot chocolate on the way home. Kids look forward to them, and they turn one outing into a tradition.

Start your tradition this year. Book your carload for The Light Park San Antonio.
