Houston Christmas Lights 2026: Your Guide to Drive-Through Light Shows in Katy and Spring

Between school pickups, work schedules and Houston traffic, December fills up fast. If you want Houston Christmas lights the whole family can enjoy without a lot of planning, The Light Park makes it simple. Two Houston-area parks, Katy and Spring, open November 6, 2026 with millions of lights synchronized to music, and you never have to leave your car.

This guide will help you choose the right park, pick the right night and show up ready for a stress-free evening.

Katy or Spring? Choosing Your Houston Light Park

Both parks offer the same mile-long drive-through show, the same hours and the same per-vehicle pricing. The easiest way to choose is to pick the one closest to home.

Typhoon Texas Waterpark Parking Lot

555 Katy Fort Bend Rd, Katy, TX 77494

Plan Around Houston Traffic and Weather

Time your drive. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. every night. If you're heading out from the office or from inside the Loop, leaving after the evening rush on Interstate 10, Interstate 45 or Beltway 8 can make the trip much smoother.

Rain doesn't cancel the fun. Houston winters can bring anything from shorts weather to a chilly drizzle. The Light Park is open rain or shine, and raindrops on the lights actually add extra sparkle. Since you stay in your car, you can run the heat or the A/C however you like. If severe weather moves in, check live updates before you head out.

Skip the crowds. Monday through Thursday are the least busy nights. If a weekend works best for your family, arrive before 6:30 p.m. for a shorter wait.

Pick the Right Night for Your Crew

A Weeknight With Little Ones

Weeknights are made for families with young kids. From ticket scan to exit, the visit usually takes about 30 to 40 minutes Monday through Thursday, so you can be home in time for bedtime. Let the kids ride in their pajamas and bring along a favorite blanket.

A Night Out With the Grandparents

No walking, no standing in the cold and no long lines on foot. Everyone stays comfortably buckled in, which makes The Light Park an easy outing for grandparents and guests with mobility needs. Coming from different parts of town? Meet up and combine cars before you arrive, because there's no parking area on site and every vehicle drives the full route.

A Big Holiday-Week Celebration

Visiting while family is in town? The parks stay open until 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and every night from December 18 to 26. Holiday weeks are busier, so plan on 60 to 90 minutes and pack plenty of snacks for the line.

A Night With the Whole Family, Dog Included

Your four-legged family members are welcome to ride along, as long as they stay inside the vehicle.

What You'll See at The Light Park Houston

Your drive takes you along a mile-long route filled with towering displays, glowing light tunnels and themed holiday scenes, all timed to music on your car radio. Cars roll along at about 3 miles per hour, giving everyone time to take it all in.

Before the show, stop by the tent for light-up wands, magic glasses, snacks and drinks.
